
I am Pauline Rowe – a writer, poet, reviewer and tutor and I live in Liverpool. I am Writer-in-Residence for the People of Anfield Project until 2025. Vestige is my most recent publication. My pamphlet The Weight of Snow (Maytree Press, 2021) won the 2021 Saboteur Award for best poetry pamphlet. I was a joint recipient in 2021 of a MaxLiteracy Award. I am a Royal Literary Fund Fellow – I worked at the University of Chester (2022 – 24) and as Reading Round Fellow in Liverpool (2024 – 25). I am a member of Liverpool Poetry Space (LiPS), The Society of Authors, The National Association of Writers in Education, Liverpool Literacy Cycle and the Poetry Society. I am also a Continuing Education Tutor at the University of Liverpool.
I have particular interests in community, Liverpool Poets, poetry and photography, writing and wellbeing, and collaborative practice with other artists. I was the first poet-in-residence with Mersey Care and the first writer-in-residence with Open Eye Gallery.
I studied Law at the University of Liverpool then gained an MA in Creative Arts through part-time study while raising my family. I have a Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning sector. In 2019 I was awarded a PhD by the University of Liverpool. I have experience as a University Teacher and Associate Tutor at the University of Liverpool and Edge Hill University.
I founded and developed the charity North End Writers which ran from 2006 – 2020 and have more than 15 years experience of working with local people and communities promoting and encouraging creative writing.
