I have become increasingly interested in writing in response to photography using creative non-fiction, poetry and pedagogic approaches.
In 2022 I contributed to the creative writing Resource Pack for year 5 pupils responding to the HOME project at Open Eye Gallery on Ukrainian Photography.
In 2021 I worked with Wirral Hospitals’ School, Andy Yates and Open Eye Gallery to produce ‘Writing Photographs’, a project funded by MaxLiteracy.
In 2019 my work was shown in The Allotments an exhibition with Dave & Arthur Lockwood of photography and new writing at the Victoria Gallery & Museum, Liverpool as part of LOOK Biennial. This work was inspired by the people of Dingle Vale allotments, Liverpool.
In 2018 the exhibition ‘Sleeping in the Middle’ was shown at Open Eye Gallery. This was a collaboration with the photographer, AJ. Wilkinson of my own recorded poetry written in response to his beautiful photographs that recorded the aftermath of a relationship breakdown. This work has become a book. Vestige (Maytree Press, 2023) puts the voice of grief on the page alongside AJ’s photographs.
